Diploma in Care (Adults) - Level 2

Who is this for?

The qualification is aimed at individuals who are already working or about to work in adult care in a supportive role or as an adult care worker, support worker and key worker in a range of adult care settings.

What will I study?

The Diploma in Care is made up of mandatory and optional units. 

To achieve the level 2 qualification, you are required to complete a minimum of 46 credits made up of :

  • Group A, 24 Mandatory credits

  • Group B, a minimum of 14 credits

  • Group C, a maximum of 8 credits 

Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care
There are 9 mandatory units:

  • Safeguarding and protection in care settings

  • Responsibilities of a care worker 

  • communication in care settings

  • Duty of care 

  • handling of information in care settings

  • Personal development in care settings  

  • Equality and inclusion in care settings

  • Health, safety and wellbeing in care settings   

  • Implement person centred approaches in care settings 

The Diploma splits into a range of pathways linked with prescribed optional units.

  • Learning disability service

  • End of Life Care

  • Dementia Care

  • Residential Care

  • Domiciliary Care 

What are the entry requirements?

Applicants must have achieved a minimum of Level 1 in English 

Mandatory Entry Requirements

  • DBS is required

  • Interview and assessment 

  • Agreement of applicant’s employer

How long is the Course?

The course length is 9 months.

The delivery of the qualification is made up of online and classroom delivery with 1-day per week compulsory work placement.
